Several Questions

Postby LunarArchon » Sat Aug 14, 2010 12:49 am

Hi, I'm relatively new to the game but i am aware of the search command and wiki. However there are still some things I can't figure out. Forgive me if I missed something and asked an already asked question

1) I am near the village "torchino" (It has a charterstone and is deserted) which way is Constantinople?

2) I read that hunting is an efficient way to gain LP. I am currently a farmer and want to be a tamer. Would the stats that I need to tame animals also be good for hunting? Or should they be higher?

3) Is there any compilation of the various growing times of crops? Or do they vary to much to be able to record? How long does tea take to grow?

4) I have been searching for a village to join and am experiencing limited success are they as scarce as they seem to be?

5) Should I just solo?

Welcome to the game!
1) No clue where such a village is, sorry. You'll need to explore more to find out more about your location.
2) Taming doesn't have very much in terms of requirements, honestly. It's mostly just trapping the animal and babysitting it until it becomes tame. As such, yes, this will not interfere with being an efficient combat character. Marksmanship is the easiest skill to use for hunting but melee and unarmed are good too once you've built them up a fair bit. Be aware that you really shouldn't attempt to hunt with lower than 20 in Marksmanship, Melee, or Unarmed, and even then it won't be easy. Also note that quality of your equipment matters a lot!
3) Not to my knowledge but people seem to know grow times pretty well. Remember to use beehives as they improve the speed of growth. Hopefully someone who farms can field this question for you =)
4) Try using the forums to find a village, it's easier than doing it in-game. Good villages are pretty scarce but there are plenty of 1 man villages running around as well as inactive villages. People lose interest and stop playing, it happens.
5) That's entirely up to you. It gets kind of lonely by yourself though, just saying.

Thanks! I appreciate the answers. I spawned on the charter stone for Iron-something... and I'm not terribly far from it. I also know that I am FAR north of a village called Trading Post. The kind owner gave me many seeds and helped me out a lot. I read about those tips on taming animals with fences, I want to tame a sheep so I can make gauze. My armor is pretty crummy at the moment, but I did find a boar skeleton and was able to make a tusk helmet. If I improve my armor will boars stop 1-hit KOing me?

Yes that and improving your primary combat skill. Having higher Unarmed, for example, will cause boars to not eat your defense bar instantly. For now, since you're starting, it's smarter to just run for it and hurl rocks at them with a sling =)
Iron-something sounds very familiar, to the Northeast region I believe. Possibly D2? Would need an exact name to be sure though. Ironmine used to be a village then it was turned into Ironmall.

Have you read the article on armor yet? It helps a lot. Essentially armor has Deflection/Absorption. Deflect ignores that damage altogether while Absorption is the damage that the armor takes for you. Anything that goes over those numbers is the damage you take. There is some piercing damage too =)
