sausage making. It's a hard skill to make use of though, most recipes call for multiple meats of dangerous varieties

Quite likely, however if it takes you many hours to kill a single fox, then you might get a better return at lower levels baking pies.

Personally I don't think I could possibly kill a fox to begin with using my current character (no armour, fairly limited combat skills)

I have a melee combat skill of 10, and chainmail armor, with a sword, and I run out of stamina before my chainmail breaks. Drinking tea helps restore that, but even with 10 melee combat I'm still missing almost all my hits. I might land one on a fox before my stamina drops so low I can't fight. I'm still not ready to fight foxes. My friends have better luck with bows though.

Yeah. If you cheat and hide behind an object the fox can't get you through, you can just plug away at a fox with arrows. I'm sure this behavior isn't condoned, though. :P

Even without the cheesing, I could probably kill a fox at a skill of 8-10 if I had some armor to protect myself when they get in my range. It's probably a matter of luck though. This is regarding the foxes inhabint ring 1-2... I think their melee skill is in the 4-6 range?

And maybe a quiver... that leather can't tan soon enough :P
