random grass - does it work the opposite way?

i know if there is an area without trees, it will slowly turn to grass, but if i plant a tree in a grassy area, does the opposite occur? do i get random forest tilles in an area around my trees? or does this only work 1 way?

yes it changes back when you plant trees

Yes, growing trees will spawn forest areas around them. However, iirc it only spawns forest while the tree is actually growing, so you'll need to re-plant often.
