newb, few questions

Postby Darwoth77 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 11:31 pm

1> is there a way for friends that started somewhere else in the world to link up with me short of rerolling a new character and using the secret password?

2> i am assuming there is no stat or skill cap, what are the average stats that a veteran player has?

3> what are the average combat skills a veteran player has and how much would someone need in order to defend themself from hostile players?

4> currently i run a g15 macro and after all the math is done gain approximately 1 lp per second, is this a good skill gain rate or am i missing out on huge gain rates somewhere?

5> i understand this phase of the game is an alpha and the server gets wiped on occasion, when was the last wipe and is there going to be another wipe anytime soon? any plans/word on the final release version of the game or is that to far off to be concerned with at the moment?

6> where are the most populated areas? arwe all of these walled off fortresses or is there a few open towns where folks can congregate?

7> the game is pretty laggy/jerky for me when playing, is this due to my ping (west coast usa) or does everyone have this experience?

thanks.

1) Yes! While in the starting area, type in your friends hearth secret ( You right click the guy near the ladder thing. Your friend must be outside the starting cave.) If you do it correct, stairs will appear on the top left area. Right click the stairs and you SHOULD be at your friend's area.

2) I'm not sure, considering as I am still a Semi-player.

3) The combat system is very complicated, most people have their own style and stats. I suggest you look at the wiki about combat and the combat system.

4) A good BEGINNER way to gain LP (If this is what you mean.) Is to simply make baskets and fires, they give semi-good LP. If you happen to acquire metal, make a shovel and dig, while CTRL clicking your inventory to dump the dirt quickly.

5) All I know about that is that this is the second world, I'm not sure when the third world starts.

6) The best way to get hooked up with other players and participate in huge villages would be to look on the "Dwarves and Thieves" forum.

7) I am also on the west coast. The lag actually goes down overtime for me. If it is VERY laggy, I would suggest closing all other browsers while playing this game. Once more people donate, the game's lag would hopefully reduce.

Good luck! I wish you the best!

EDIT: Besides the "okay" LP gain of cutting trees, I would highly not recommend it. Not only does it waste forests, but other users don't look kindly to "Clear-Cutters"
EDIT II: Also, I suggest getting the clay skill after you get some decent LP. Dig in mudflats for any Q clay, make urns for decent LP.

1> i specifically asked if there was an easy way of linking up OTHER than using the hearthword at the startup screen.

3> i know people have different skills in the sweeping and wide spectrum of punches, swords or bows. but my question was how high basic combat skills (and stats) needed to be in order to be competitive enough to defend yourself from a veteran player.

4> i gain 1 lp per second while i am getting a BJ from the wife or watching UFC in the living room, wanted to know if this was a good rate of point gain and how it compared to other methods. thanks for the tip on sludging around like a buffoon and making newb baskets though.

5> according to the archives this is world 3. by this point i hate you and hope to decorate my frontyard with the skeleton of your character.

6> i am aware of the forum you speak of, my question was whether large open villages existed, not whether or not i could find a village to join on the forums.

7> i am not playing the game on my cellphone, nor do i have a dialup connection or three thousand porn viruses on my hard drive. as such my lag is entirely dependany upon either server performance or distance from game server. i was trying to ascertain which one that was.

Yeah, what Hallow said.
First off, you need to be more specific about your questions before raging over them.

Also, I doubt you have a wife, honestly.

Acting like a jerk won't get you into a village faster.
No one likes a grump, especially a new one who gets mad at people who try to help him.

let me guess "halloween" (oh so fucking original i must say) your shitty character is currently toting a pumpking on his head isn't he?

Please understand. You must change your persona or attitude, if you will, towards other players. Otherwise you aren't going to get anywhere in this game, not even into one of those wandering barbaric PVP villages.

As I said in my last post. No one likes a grump.
