pearls and nature

the wiki says "Decreased chance of getting pearl while boiling mussels"...

so if a full nature char picks em and then a full industry char cooks em. does that give me a higher success rate then the full nature cooking them?

That's speculation I believe. Empirically speaking, those of us in the Bunnyslipper fortress have had between a 1-2% success rate though it does not appear to be effected by our Nature/Industry slider in the least. Perhaps other players have had varying success but my advice would be to be skeptical on this topic.
As for the gathering and boiling -- it would probably be similar to mining. Success is determined when you gather the object rather than who smelts/boils the object.
