How do i fish

Greetings,

I red all the instructions on the wiki, have the newb pole, with taproot, bonehook and earthworm, if i click somewhere on the water to fish, char walks there and throws out a line, but after 10 - 20 seconds stops and nothing has been caught, also not getting any messages.
Anything i am overlooking?

You're almost there. What you are missing is an active fishing spot, you can't actually catch fish just anywhere. Hop in a boat and travel a bit until you find an area where you see fish jumping - this is a fishing node - cast your line there and you're sorted.
