Starting to get frustrating

I wanted to fish and saw a fishing rod in my inventory, so i bought that skill. Now i need to fully equip it, i figure that i just need a hook, but i don't have any bones to make it with. So i thought i needed to hunt to get bones, i bought that skill and the only thing i can attack with are ranged weapons (the sling) and not my stone axe. Needless to say, i don't have the resources to make it(And neither the skill to use it with, probably). So can anyone help me out here? Or is this game just a series of middle fingers every time you follow the trail to what you want.

You need the hunting skill, walk for a while until you see a rabbit (they're everywhere). Sneak up close to it and right click it, you will catch it. Then wring its neck and butcher it for bones

Pretty much, yeah. We like it that way.

Besides rabbits you can also grab chickens with the hunting skill should you be near some kind of grassland.

I hope you've gotten this sorted with the info the guys gave you? Oh and if you want to forage string for slings or whatever, get your exploration up a bit, 10 points should do to be able to find taproot

To catch a rabbit you need to have 2x2 tiles free in your inventory.
