How to catch a rabbit?

Yet again, i find that between myself and my goal is possibly hundreds of more fires to start. I can't catch a single rabbit, they run off faster than my character as soon as i right-click them. Is there some sort of tactic to use? Or do i have burn enough wood to make smokey the bear assault me in game for a necessary stealth level?

Stealth is irrelevant for hunting, it's just for criminal acts.

Anyway, stand right next to the rabbit before you right click him.

i tried to catch a rabbit as well with my hunting skill. I did exactly as you directed but it didn't work since the rabbit runs as fast as me and as soon as i initiate capture. I'm starting to think this game is broken.

Left click on rabbit (you will walk over and stand next to the rabbit)
Increase speed
Right click on rabbit (rabbit will be caught in inventory)
Wring rabbit's neck
Butcher dead rabbit


Many will advise to dry the rabbit fur and tan in a tub to produce leather for 1.)water flask and 2.) backpack.
I'm a big fan of using the first two rabbit furs for bunny slippers. They never get knocked off when you're steamrolled by boars and bears.

The game won't let me increase my speed further than running.

The game is not broken and you can catch the rabbit while crawling when you're right on top of it. The issue is that your inventory is full so you can't pick it up. Clear a 2x2 spot in your inventory so you can hold it.

And if it won't let you increase your speed, you're probably out of stamina (the blue bar)

I had the same problem and I am sure it is just as TeckXKnight and that you do not have space in your inventory for the rabbit. You have to have a square of 2 spaces high and two spaces down completly clear before you can catch the rabbit.

Left click the rabbit to get right up close to it and then whe you cant get any closer right click it - you should not even need to put your speed up to sprint. The same method is also used to catch chickens.
