No claim, free game?

Greetings,

I was wondering what the general consensus is on settlements that seem to have been abandoned (allthough its sometimes hard to say) and don't have claims on them?
Do people just grab what they can if its unclaimed or are there reasons to leave it alone?

Absolutely, no claim, free gain for me. If it's abandoned then the stuff would just decay anyway and if they are new they'll learn to buy Yeomanary, win-win for everyone.

Yup I have made most of my progress in the game because of raiding abandoned places. Just got hold of a Bull and two Rams today from a place that had been left to rot (thankfully one of the Pally walls had fallen)

If there is no claim on it and you can use it then take it.

Bear in mind that even without scents, people can still take offence. As long as you're happy with the lower chance of getting caught, then go for it.

I appreciate that without a **claim** you can argue it's not theirs. But logic doesn't always come into it if you're unconcious and they're about to land another blow.

Yeah, when I see a settlement without a claim stake, I go ahead and take it, regardless of whether or not I think it's abandoned.. They can't track me, because without a claim stake they can't get a scent on me. Plus, who's gonna miss a couple of eggs and dead chickens anyways? I know some people may frown on me for this, but if they don't have a claim stake and they actually play the game frequently, they'll soon get one, unless they're totally hopeless noobs.

yep. If there is no claim, then it is public resources. Don't be lazy and not put up at least a palisade with a claim.
