I'm going to try to kill a bear

And before I do something completely stupid, I'd like to know what my marksman skill should be before I attempt this.

that depends what you use as a weapon i killed a bear with 14 marksmanship but i had a quality 94 sling so idk

The lower your marksmanship, the more patience you need due to the aim bar filling very slowly. Theoretically you can do it with a minimum marksmanship. Same applies for the quality of the sling. Lower quality means less damage means longer fight. If you shoot while in a boat then nothing can happen to you though. Just bring lots of stones and patience.

being in a wagon helps tremendously as well Shoot, disengage, chase, repeat.

Nothing feels better than carting a whole wagon full of bears and boars from your wagon into your homestead and setting them all out for display

I was planning on using a bow and bone arrows, everything I make in the game is crappy.

Do it with a good quality sling. I tought this would never be possible, but now im killing cows with a q 93 sling and 19 markmanship and 31 perception. Im sure with a bit more perc and markmanship you could easily kill a bear. Okay, not easily, but what ever.

I dont advice using a Bow / Arrow especially if you have low MM or if the bow and/or arrow is of low Q. You're better off with a good Q sling. Takes alot of patience to kill a bear with low MM / Q Sling and you will more likely "Disengage combat" many times to stop it running away, thus losing LP but if its the kill you want, then that shouldn't be a problem.

Just make sure u have a ready supply of ammo and a good sniping spot. Good Luck bear hunting.
