What is the purpose of this thread? It just doesn't (and yes it has been proposed that it should be activated by default).

Seriously - what Sabinati said, the scents stay there for a long time, sometimes left by your villagers or yourself and you don't want to see so much stench all around you :D

The framerate gets really choppy when there's a lot of scents on screen.

say you have 1 million sents at your heartfire and the game crashes when you toggle on ranging. Lots of fun not being able to log in for a week or collect sents of the perpetrators.
