Mapping, Cartography & annoying construction signs

Heya, Been playing the game for a last few days and i'm having a blast!,

I've got some decent skills and almost enough PER*EXP to see inkroot and was wondering if it was worth going into cartography and how exactly cartography works,
I've seen the wiki but still dont quite understand how the mapping sysetm in H&H works

e.g.
When the map is made, is it a local map?
is the local map centered at the player position?
Do i have to create a new map every few steps when mapping, or does it create the map as i walk?

One other thing is how do i destroy partially build construction signs, I see alot of unbuilt and partially build firewood construction signs and was wondering how to remove the ones that have been built slightly without having to build it and burn it myself :S

The cartography I can't answer all of it but...

You fill out one minimap at a time while using Inkweed, and you just stand there the hourglass goes down, when it's done the minimap is put on your parchment and you move on to the next area to keep filing out the localmap. Few people use Cartography as there are many issues to it which you can find using the Search button most likely.


As for the construction signs people use them when trapping foxes and such, if they bother you use A->Y to destroy them, or if it's not built in, just remove it (to do it without losing stamina, although breaking is faster ).

Guess i'll lay off the cartography for a while and go clean up some of this mess around my area
