can't build a cabin

When i try to build a log cabin,i get a "You can build it there" message.Any ideas? I'm in some kind of forest.

You're in a forest, that's why. You need to pave a sufficient area down (5x5 for a log cabin, 7x7 for a timber) then lay stones to pave it. After that you can build on it.

2. chip stones
3. construct plow and plow ground
4. lay stone on plowed area
5. build house
6. ???
7. Profit!

You need Stone Working, not Masonry.

Whoops. Well Stone Working is required for Masonry, so it would have worked : D
