Q110 Bronze Sword or Q80 B12?

What hit's more? or what is the formula to calculate this?
also do you need unarmed combat for b12 since it's 2 handed?

B12 is a monster in terms of damage, but you do have to have a lot of UA for defence, and melee for offence. Just pumping melee with a bit of UA (so you don't get raped by enemy maneuvres) will get you more mileage, since damage doesn't mean squat if you can't actually hit.

I believe the B12 and Bronze Sword use the same formula, just with different base values.

If you're comparing Sting with Chop, they both pretty much use the same formula, and have the same weight, except sting seems to use less IP (that is, Sting only costs 2 IP whereas Chop costs 4 IP).

I personally like Cleave more than Valorous Strike though, even know Valorous costs less IP, it takes all of your Combat Advantage away.

My unarmed and melee are about even, mainly because I like using the unarmed crap mixed in with my melee weapon (is that a bad idea?), so the lack of a shield is a non-issue for me.

This is just my opinion though; I've been waiting to see a "Axe vs Sword" topic for awhile now though.

Comparing a bronze sword with a B12 is strange. If anything it should be Soldier's Sword versus B12, because if you can get or make a B12, you can get a Soldier's Sword. According to the wiki a B12 has a base damage of 500, while a soldier's sword has a base damage of 400. The damage formula is Base Damage * sqrt(sqrt(quality*strength)/10 (again, stolen from the wiki).

The 100 difference in base damage represents a lot of killing power. However like Potjeh was saying you have to use unarmed for defense. Unarmed maneuvers don't have any positive weight multipliers, so you're stuck with whatever your unarmed skill is when determining defense (disregarding oaken stance). On the other hand shield block has a 1.25 weight modifier, making it more effective at straight defense than an equal level of unarmed skill.

Not to mention that you can raise melee with thanes and dragon helm, while unarmed only gets cuirass and nettle gear, none of which are much good.

Oh, and axe does more damage still. You can use cleave for +50% damage, so you can do nearly double the sword's damage.
