So they do and they do not remove grassland and convert it to forest tile, nice. Good to see you Schrodinger.
It has been reported before that they do not revert/change grassland tiles into any other tiles. My personal landscape has not had any reversion either due to tree planting. So as far as this goes, unless someone has evidence to the contrary, I believe that you have heard correctly.
