How do your stats affect scents?

So when does stealth and int affect your scents? I'm guessing Its when you leave the scents but I just want to be sure.

When your scent is left its difficulty is set. Increasing your stealth after you've commit the crime will not make it harder for anyone to catch you. That said, it's still not hard to catch you (I leave and enter the house lol)

Thanks, and yes I know that Stealth is rather useless, but in some cases such as random passerbyers, it is slightly handy.
