what are the benifits for upgrading your exploration and survival? rather then buying new skills?

You will have to read the wiki for teh precise benefits, but exploration means you're able to see more foragables (nettles, cavebulbs, etc)

And survival mean that the hides you skin will be higher q.

Exploration (and perception) determines the chances of you seeing foragable such as cave bulbs or rustroots as well as be able to detect crime scents if you have ranging and you turned on "tracking".

Survival determines the softcaps quality of stone axes, slings, saws, roasted meat, arrows, fishing items, caught fishes, foragables found, and butchered meat from animal carcass.
