How the hell are you supposed to be able to locate a mine?

How the hell are you supposed to be able to locate a mine? Is there some weird trick I'm not privy to?

My friend and I just spent the last 7 hours going travelling 4 SGs using around 200 prospects and we never once located any metal to any %.
We were around on the north western edge of the world and only saw 1 village with basically no other signs of human life.

Finding a mine isn't easy. Your best bets are to prospect mountains and caves. Mines can be on other terrains, but are mostly located in these. Even if you prospect on a mountain or in a cave, mine chances are still pretty low bud. That's about all I can help you with. Goodluck.


P.S. You might want to get a good trade relationship going with someone who has a mine.

Make sure you're going down any holes in the banks you find and prospect down there.
I'm fairly certain prospecting on the surface won't locate any of the unclaimed mines in caves.

Č. Explore them;
Ę. Put village claim on the mine you find stake claimed and palisaded;
Ė. Break the palisade or wait for it to decay;

^ After ignoring this nonsense try looking for hidden entrances on cliffsides. Areas blocked by boulders and trees. These generally hold caves yet unexplored and mines yet found. Other than that see if anyone's offering a mine for sale and make a solid offer.
