Breeding megaprogect numbers?

Postby FlamableJo » Tue Sep 28, 2010 10:55 pm

Well, since cows and such can eat grass for feed, I wonder, can suitable numbers be reached to get a stable, non fenced population, say on the mainland. Need enough to breed about as fast as they wander away, I guess. The wont be eated by bears or anything will they?

Just wanting to know before I even think about starting any flood the world megaproject.

Thoughts on the numbers required?

the only way you could do this was if you had a load of people who were willing to replant the grasslands with grass once it turns to mudflat. I left two rams I had tamed (I had been hoping for ewes) to roam the grassland next to me. Within a day dirt patches started to show up, rams eat no where need as much as cows, even those not with calf.

The way I see it it is a waste of time - after all even if you could replant the grass as soon as it turned to dirt there is no way you could keep the calf's close enough to a milk producing cow for all the time it is dependent on the milk.

Females dont' live forever on grass for some reason, males do. (or is it the other way around... pretty sure it's this way though).

If it was fixed this would be doable, and neat.

Females seem to lose life/quality faster than males if they are only eating grass. Even if all the grass isn't mudded yet.

I wonder if that also works with sheep and pigs?

Self-replication is a very dangerous thing. I think females dying on perfectly good grassland must be a defense measure.
Come back two hours earlier.
