Archery Aim Meter Won't Go Up?

I recently decided to try out archery, but the aim meter wont go up! D: I've been aiming at a fenced in boar for 10 min now, and there's nothing showing. Is it because my marksmanship is crappy? (It's only level 1 :\) I've tried with both slings and bows but nothing shows up on the aim meter and I always miss. Any way I can fix this or am I screwed?

You will be standing there for days before you meter starts to move if you're using a bow with level 1 MM. Use a sling and up your MM.

Even if you increased it - still use your sling

yeah bows kinda suck unless you get a ranger bow. may as well just skip using a regular bow all together.

What marksman level would you guys recommend I get to before I start to actually use slings?
