How do I play at school?

Postby Flareboy323 » Mon Oct 04, 2010 4:18 pm

I can get it to load and everything, but when I try to log in it says "Could not connect to server" D: Any tips to logging in at school?

Thanks,

Sounds like the server was just down. Try it another day, you can see the server status at home page.

Tip: be attentive in class, do your homework and then play
Real tip: reach 18 and then play, your name reminds me xweetox

You don't.

Seriously, you shouldn't be playing a game in school.

Meh. Playing at school is fun. Also, I think it might be because it uses a proxy or something to connect to the server which my school would block.

Not sure though :o

I agree with Anomaly, but if you're going to play it regardless, try a few things.

First, download whatever game client you are using onto a flash drive so you don't download it onto your school PC. Seriously, tech guys at the head office in my school division watch downloads and streams like hawks (overweight, near-sighted cheeto eating hawks) You may also want to see what kind of networking system your school is running. If it's broke and on a serious budget like mine, instead of all the computers connecting to a central router, each computer in the chain is connected to the next (resulting in hilarity if you unplug the computer next to you in the chain from the network) so you want to find the computers closest to the router. Also, try to do it on spare blocks where few computers are being used as opposed to when you get your info pro classes in there. Two hundred computers all googling stuff eats bandwidth like none other.

I, too, wanted to play in school but have a similiar problem. When I run the game, even before I can enter my login and password I get this error:

I'm not really computer person so I don't understand a thing, lol. Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

If your school blocks you, you will end up with problems from them getting around it. Your best bet is to find out what firewalls they have in place and look up ways to get around that, instead of asking how to get HnH to work.

While I do agree that playing in school is stupid, is that the place of people on the forum to tell him what he 'should' or shouldn't do with his time? I've had classes where in freetime you could do as you please including playing any game as long as you can get it to work, teacher's condoned it so what's wrong with it? ;)

If you live in America:
Don't do anything stupid, watch any file anyone gives you, in America at least it's taken very very seriously if you hack to get past the firewall and they catch you, me and a friend put a trojan on the network before, I didn't get caught because I was smart enough to back away when it was happening, but the FBI came and locked up my friend for a day. Someone telling you that 'this will get through it' could be helping, or they could be severely hurting. Cybercrime tends to go on permanent records by the way, so if you don't know what your future holds for you getting caught for such a trivial thing even if it wasn't intended can make it so that you never get certain jobs in the government.

There are typically ways to get around the basic stuff however by obtaining teacher passwords (one of the easiest ways) connecting to the network through a computer that isn't firewalled, logging in through alternative means that don't require an account (if they still run XP this is the easiest way), and several others, google around and you might find some websites for it.

Behold, I have found the solution!
In a miraculous stroke of luck, I have discovered that the Haven and Hearth website is blocked most school servers. Since I already know the teacher's password to override it (Someone on Facebook probably knows it), I have been able to log onto haven and hearth (using the client executed on a thumb drive) simply by allowing access to Havenandhearth.com. I can do this with similar java games, but I mostly do it for Haven and Hearth.

But seriously, DatOneGuy is right. Your best bet is to simply get the password: the worst that can happen is that you get caught and get detention for a day or something. Hacking the server is too risky, and is illegal, while using a password to override the proxy is doesn't put you with a criminal record with the FBI.

Just my little piece of advice to all you out there who are stuck in the Library during study hall with nothing to do ;)
