Stolen Items

If thief uses stolen item in construction (like plant fibre to make rope, or bone glue to make palisade) or "processes" it (cooking an egg into boiled egg), can it still be tracked with theft scents?

I think theft scents lead to the perpetrator, and not the object.

If you track item they lead to item, but if the item is 'consumed' it used to just say the item is gone or whatever. Now that altvaulted ones lead to the alt's HF I wonder if the items lead to what they constructed...

Theft sent always points towards the object location whether on the character, in an alt vault character, or in a container. If the item is consumed by process of building, crafting, or despawned while on ground. the item no longer exist thus cannot be tracked.

But what if I put it in container then put put container inside cave? It still be tracked to entrance of cave then?

Yes. The same thing occurs with houses that the scent points to the houses that the item is in.
