ranged fighting question

ok so recently iv wanted to kill more then jusr rabbits. so i made a bow and 30 arrows quality 14 I found a fox and fired... 30 arrows later the fox was not dead. after ever shot the foxes read health bar went down to nothing and when up a tiney sliver right befor i could get my next shot off. so my question is what shoud i do to kill stuff an dis this normal?

First off, start with slings. They're twice as easy to aim with.

Then increase your marksman. 20 or so should do. Don't fire until the meter is filled to the green.

No matter how long i wait my ame bar never gets green just stays black so i just wait 10-15 secconda and never miss. second of all i have tryed a sling and after going through 2 invintories of rocks on the fox i called it quits. so is there somethign im missing?

No, you are missing. When you hit, the amount of damage you did pops up above it. The red bar isn't health, it's the fox's attack bar (blue is defence). If you can't get the aim bar to rise you don't have enough marksmanship. The aim bar is your chance to hit, so if you don't get any of it filled you'll always miss.
