Ashery

Postby EveryTimeV » Fri Jul 31, 2009 8:06 am

I came across the hirdsman cape, it looks really really nice to me; After that I tried getting ash but snap, I have no idea where to get it from and the logical "Burn stuff" didn't work as I cannot pick up the fire ash.

Is there a solution to this problem so that I may start living the life of a man who owns himself a hirdsman cape?
I will steal all of the RuneStones in the land, if your stone has gone missing in the night then I'm already hauling it.

I'll assume you are a hirdsman. Try baking honey buns, but put two sticks in the oven.

Edit: Or if you want cheap ash and don't mind waiting, try bread and four sticks.

Ah good, I'll start growing wheat to burn my bread straight away.

Also to answer your question, no. I am not a hirdsman but I intend to waylay any passer-by who happens upon my domain intending to stop me wearing the cape regardless. (Which by the time I have the cape I'll *most likely* be prepared to waylay said passer.)

If the cape works like the lawspeaker's robe, the game won't let you wear it unless you are a hirdsman.

The only problem being the game mechanic that makes it so that only hirdsmen can wear hirdsman capes.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Hmm, thwarted.

How do I become a hirdsman?

The chieftain of a village needs to appoint you as one. Since there can only be two per chief (and one chief per village), this probably means you need to be a trusted and active member of a village and hope the position becomes unoccupied at some point.

I see. Would I be able to get this by making 'myself' a hirdsman via creation of my own new town? (Probably not I'm sure).

A new town requires 4 characters with Yeomanry to activate a town idol (requires a lot of resources including bears teeth)
From there one of them can be the lawspeaker and one can be the chieftan.

The lawspeaker and chieftan can add new members

The chieftan can appoint hirdsmen

I haven't heard whether the chieftan can appoint the lawmaker or himself as a hirdsman yet, I'm not sure it's been tested. My assumption would be that no good could come of such madness
