What can you do with a theft send.

Postby mvgulik » Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:31 am

Got a "theft scent" to play with.
Tracked it to a HF. (Inside personal claim)

But I'm not to sure yet.
- Will a HF' light up, or give of some other feedback to indicate thats its the one your tracking. (Got it lined up with two scans, so I'm pretty sure about the HF.)
But could not get next to it becouse of it being inside a claim. So I did no try -> (Summoning can be done by finding the unjust player's Hearth Fire and holding left-click on the scent you have tracked and right-clicking their hearth fire.)
[edit]+ Note that this can be done at a distance - as long as you can see the hearth fire, force summon will be possible.

Think I met the character in question to. (but only had on "theft scent" left and needed it to make a second scan on the HF.)
- so same question on "track perpetrator", is there any additional feedback ?

Nothing was stolen as far as I could tell, and the nearby Character was not unfriendly. So I'm not out for blood. Although I was looking forward to some summoning practice. ;)

That reminds me.
- Will a player know if his character was summoned. (will it for example change the character's "last position".)
- And what can you do with a summoned character. (other than killing it.)

Edit(s): grammer.

1. I don't think so, but when he logs in he will ofcourse begin at his hearth fire... I think.

2. Dance with it.

And it indeed is "Scent", not "Send".

Not if the HF is not there anymore. But thats a other matter.

but I don't like to leave any scent of myself, so thats limiting my options for the moment.

Aha, misted that second part of your message. (Got this from forum to).
Btw: ... I'm Dutch to.

well if the perpetrator is online you can track perpetrator, track HF, or track the stolen objekt. If hes offline you can only track the HF or the stolen objekt. i have never seen the HF start flashing or anything like that, you will have to track from different angles to make sure wich HF to brake if you intend to brake it. if you intend to just summon where the HF is, the scent will only work with the right HF so if the caracter is summoned you clicked the right one i guess.

if you dont like leaving scents with your main and if you have an alt that you dont care for much, you can make the trubble and use the alt to brake the perpetrators HF if it is out in the open, and once the HF is gone you can use your main to summon the perpetrator where ever you want in a safe location like inside your house or whatever and kill him there, just hold the scent and rightclick the ground where you want him to spawn. however they will be able to track your alts HF thru the vandalism scent that was left at the scene, so either leave its HF way off in the woods and let them kill the alt, or make the trubble and make a small herthvault with a small cabin out in the wilderness somewhere if you think its a small time criminal that can not yet brake palisade for example, and place your alts HF in there and hope for the best. There are some possibilitys but it takes some effort to do it, so it all depends on how much time you are willing to put in i guess.

Also, since you mentioned that nothing appeared to be stolen, it's possible that the perpetrator was just walking across a claim and doing some item shuffling. Currently, if you drop one of your own items on the ground and then pick it up while on someone else's claim, you'll leave a theft scent.

But in this case. There was only one scent mark, and it was pointing to a chest inside the room. So it was not something that was dropped and picked up again.
On what action left the scent mark ... Wow second death for nothing.

... (Thinking of testing it ... alway good to see it first hand.)

[Edit: correction, misread other topic.]
