How do I initiate a attack?

The combat guide is not quite answering it for me: How do I start attacking things? I hit punch and left/right click a rat but nothing happens at all.

When you click the punch button and your cursor changes left clicking on target should do the trick. It can be kinda hard to click the animals, though, the clickable area seems to be smaller than the sprite.

Yea, just figured out you can grab rabbits and wring their necks -> Surviving now!
