First time taming animals

Postby HunterStafford » Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:07 pm

I know this is probably a well beaten down topic, but what are the requirements for taming animals. I know you must use rope and diffrent moves without out getting killed. But please explain your method of taming and the minimum requirements (Strength, Unarmed Combat level, Melee Combat level, ect.). Happy Gaming

Relevant thread

Be sure to read the first page or two of replies as well, it explains how to use the corner bug for taming, which lets you do it without armour and high combat skills.

I wouldn't recommend the corner bug, if you walk too far it will leave you stuck in the cage with the animal. Try shutting a gate on the tile it is standing on, and after it "lunges" run up and do whatever move you need to.

Must have been two separate herds.
Because I don't think you can tame two from one herd at the same time.

I did that before, unless it was two really small herds. There were like 6 auerochsen in total, I killed all except two and then tamed both at the same time by equipping two ropes.

Nope same herd, iv done both sheep and cows that way. I managed to tame 4 from the same flock of sheep (still only 2 at the same time) as I searched for females, each time I tamed one I just let go of the rope and hoped it moved away enough for me to tame another.
