locating yourself on the map

i've visited the map link, and after 10 minutes pouring over it, i still cant find myself. i assume i am in one of the unexplored areas. but i would like to know, is there a quicker way to find yourself on the world map?

Did you make ingame maps and compare them to the big one? usually gets easier that way than just relating what you think your region looks like

Find yourself a large landmark that is easily distinguishable. Using an ingame map to solidify the shapes helps to. I personally did a lot of exploring and located a couple of the surrounding villages to locate my claim.
