Traditional Death

Postby BoobyJo » Sun Oct 31, 2010 10:28 pm

I've put quite a bit of time into this game yet to this date I am still not happy with the decisions I've made skill wise; if I go full tradition I understand I should get 75% of my lp back. Now does this mean I get it in the form spendable LP points or just 75% of the skill it was already invested in. Also how does it affect attributes and the abilities I bought like hunting ect.

You get 75% of the skills and stats (which is less than 75% of the lp invested), and I think you get 75% of the lp you spent on abilities.

Only if you die...
Isn't it always better to just keep playing to get more lp and make better choices in future than to restart? The ONLY reason I can think of retarting a char is if your stats are very badly balanced from bad food choices. BUT even then it would have to be pretty bad that some mass eating from a table can't fix it, and in that case you would likely have loads of LP that almost wouldn't be worth losing.

I really can't imagine a good reason to kill yourself for a new char....ever.
The change and tradition thing is more for players who want to feel safe in case they get killed.

Wrong.

Mostly due to...

And to a lesser extent....

That is what it means when it says ancestors!? I was wondering what the game used for that mechanic.

You still have to die for those to work, in which case it would still be better to have just used the original character.

No. Die with 500 melee at full trad, reincarnate with 400, use Einherjer to get 900.

when i found out about this I was pissed. At first i was against the Trad/change slider mechanic. Thinking that the average full change(peeps generally not thinking about raiding at that time) guy will always be screwed by your average full tradition(raider) guy. but then we got to lookin at the effects of LP gains of the two. Granted the Tradition guy can save 75% of his stats, gettin him to full trad, is gonna put a serious ding in his LP aquiring abilities. so as long as the chang guy was also lvl'n UA or Melee, he had a chance. but with this Einherjeraspekt prayer the full trad guy gets a Big bonus in the stats he needs the most against his fellow man.

i wish this would be removed from the game. but i suspect a LOT of peeps would hate that.

At the cost of 40NP, 4.5 million LP (not even counting the decrease in the other stats), and only lasts for 8 hours.

40 NP is a joke in a developed settlement, especially if you're full trad which you most likely will be if you plant to turn on einherjer and go killing. Sure, you lose 4.5mil LP, but with active prayer the net result is +28mil LP. And it only gets better with multiple ancestors. And you can always keep 40 NP in reserve, so you can have that bonus whenever you need it, even if you get ambushed.
