question about cows and bulls

Can a bull possibly eat a cow?
(oh i hope not!)

here is what happened.

i was checking the food trough near my cow/bull pens, and saw a calf grown into a cow.
so i took it into a bull's pen to pair them up. i left for like 2 mins and heard a moo, i thought they got paired up alright. so i went back to the pen to check, but to my surprise, i found only a bull there, no cows inside(nor outside) this pen. the pen is all fenced, just one space open but closed with a runestone so that they dont run away, also it is a very small pen with nothing to hide in. my pens are all walled inside palisades, no trespassers, no thefts, no strangers or no villagers seen around.

can anyone tell me what has happened, or can this be a bug?

Im so sorry! i just found the missing cow, she had escaped 3 screens away!!!
im sure she really hated this bull xD

I think there is a problem that when an animal is kept in a small area and /or had a lot of other animals in with it that when it is loaded up (when someone enters that area) it cannot load where it was the last time and so it instead loads close by - but maybe not in the pen. I could not understand why I kept finding my animals around our village when there were no holes and this is my best guess as to what is happening



I am now moving the sheep to another area and trying to cut down on the amount i keep together - hopefully that solves it
