Trees space requirement

Postby laudano » Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:08 pm

It is said in Wiki that trees need a 5x5 space with no collidable objects in it. Does it include manufactured containers or tools like plow or boat? And if that space is not respected does it slow or stop the tree growth?

it includes anything that you bump into when you're walking, so yes, containers, plows, etc. it stops tree growth.

the tree will not die, it'll be stunted(won't goto the next stageof growth)

here is one way to make ur plot

x = paved stone
0 = ground

xxxxx
x000x
x000x
x000x
xxxxx

basically a 3x3 square with stone around it. u can use the land mangement system to make sure your planting in the middle of the 0's(cntrl L for land management)

Just make sure to plant your trees on a personal claim and put a fence or a wall around them. Animals can't spawn on personal claims and the fence will prevent them from walking onto it.

Also, I'd rather use a plot like this:

00000
0XXX0
0X0X0
0XXX0
00000

That way you make sure you won't accidentally plant a tree that's not in the center of the 5x5 grid.

it's been said that your not supposed to have paved ground surrounding your tree, it gimps it's quality.
