Stomp to Dirt

What is the purpose of this.

I have actually been gone for a a long time and just started back up, unfortunately all my Buildings are gone but no prob, that just means more LP's

Well from the viewpoint of someone who uses that new action like a crazy person, I find it's an ideal action for building roads and trails.

think of it another way to make a paved road. . .without the stone.

sorry to gravedig a little, but is stomping as irreversible as paving? I've managed to pave or brick dirt, but digging or ploughing don't work there

Not irreversible, you can pave it I believe, or maybe it was grass? Yeah grass...

and the stomped dirt will slowly revert to the original terrain

well i accidentally stomped a single square that i meant to plow, and you cant plow it after that, but with my new harvest and re-seeding, the spot is gone. Unless you know any other way that could have happened... Actually, I'm not entirely sure now, I couldve been mistaken in which field it was

What spot is gone? The dirt? Stomped dirt will decay over time. If you want to re-plow a stomped dirt tile without waiting for it to decay (which may be awhile), just grass over it then plow the grass. In this regard stomped dirt acts just like a mudflat.

You can not use Stomp To Dirt to increase the size of a mudflat for clay harvesting, unfortunately (one of the first things I tried because I know a clay spot that isn't line up with a mudflat, and the node is over forest soil for the most part).
