I've been searching for at least 8 hours far in-land by wagon towards an edge of the world (I even go hours without seeing any bodies of water). I just kinda prospect every now and thenThis area is definitely uninhabited; there's not a single bit of construction or any trees chopped. I head for the hills whenever I see them, I've prospected at least 6 caves...
I've passed by a few claimed mines hours earlier in my travels. I looked up the village names on the forum to get an idea of when they were found. One of them was recruiting villagers in October 2010, so I'm guessing they found it around then. Another one looked like they were just starting to build their first stone mansion; it wasn't a very established place, so I estimate it was discovered earlier this month. I must be extremely far from the publicly charted world, to say the least.
I remember reading about people who found mines and simply left them because it wasn't what they wanted, making it sound like finding a mine was something anyone could do if they put the effort into it (or even as though it could be a semi-easy task)...
Oh, I seem to have reached the edge of the world. I can't proceed in my direction anymore... Despite finding evidence of recently discovered mines, this feels so hopeless! My sanity is kept only by slaughtering any boars and foxes that cross my path.
edit: Make that at least 15 hours and at least 11 or so caves... Still uninhabited areas with level X animals. I'm almost ready to just give up and become a slave of some lucky village so I can get my hands on some metal, though I really don't like the idea of that or the restrictions that apply...
RIP
