Beeswax

I know to collect beeswax I have to right click on a beehive to harvest it, and I also know that if a hive has no wax I can't harvest it, but I have a hive that's been dripping honey for a while and never once when I right clicked on it has the option to harvest beeswax come up. Could anyone tell me how to get it out? Thanks.
