Pet Bunny?

So I've been browsing the forum and noticed that many players obsess over their pet rabbit. That being the case, I figured I'd ask the more experienced bunny hoarders.

How do you effectively keep a pet rabbit? Could I put it in a fence and expect it to not despawn? or should I only take it out for brief periods? Will keeping it in my house work?

I'm aware that I could just store it in a crate, but I'd rather let it roam around while I'm working on the village.

I wouldn't know, but as a newbie I picked up a frog with intent to eat it while afew miles south in the oak woods. I returned to my camp in the pines disappointed and dropped the little fellow, he stuck around for afew hours. I didn't pay enough attention to notice if he left. (We didn't have frogs around my camp at the time, just rats)

my camp is filled with frogs, they're so annoying to bump into, but for the most part we let them chill with us.

I guess I'll experiment when the server comes back up.

There is currently no way to keep a bunny for very long. I think they will die if kept in a container (including your inventory) for too long, and they de-spawn when the map they're in is unloaded.

Not true.

There's a cupboard at a place I own that has had nothing but rabbits in it for a long time. Also, my first village I lived in over 6 months ago still has a rabbit in the cupboard, still alive...

Also the village has long been dead because no one wants it. It's been raided by bored noobs who rammed down the palisade and just found q20 shit. Doesn't even have a village claim. Never did.
