Marksmanship and Hunting

Postby Trallsuksdik » Mon Nov 29, 2010 1:49 pm

Hi all! I'm new to the game and was wondering when a good time to start hunting would be, I hear hunting gives lots of LP and getting food leather and bones is a plus too.

But i've been reading up and not just anyone can hunt, you need to have a few skills first.

I've got The Will to Power and Hunting, are there any other skills I might need?

I have a q15 sling and 9 marksmanship. What would be a good goal for marks to start hunting? And would I only be able to hunt foxes, or boars too?

Thanks!

With that sling you can benefit from up to 30 marksmanship. 10-15 is good enough to start hunting, but it's slooow. You should stay in your boat while you hunt until you get some unarmed skill and armour, so you can survive the animals' attacks.

Yes, or when hunting foxes just close him in signpost and kill, but i have a question when hunting boars the best way is to stay on boat right? so when the boars flies what have to do? he's to fast for me

For boars, stay on the boat. When you've done enough damage it'll start running.... but no problem. Once he is running he's completly vulnerable to attacks, so it should be dead in a couple of punches. You're faster than him at Running speed (Third One).

If you have available leather, you should consider crafting a waterskin for stamina regen.

Blue/red bars, and most of the rest of the interface means jack for ranged combat. Only thing that matters is the little gauge with the bullseye at top, charge it up a ways and let it fly (like 1/2 -> 3/4 full). And yes with low marksmanship it'll take a while to kill critters (esp rank X which is what most of the map seems to be heh). Wall em up near some rocks and have a nap while killing (or construct a murder fence near home, roundpole fences with several gates forming pens in some sort of L shape, works great for clearing boars).
