After five hours prospecting, five empty caves...

... six liters of extract and walking to the edges of the map, not even a single mine. Should I keep trying?

Sure, so long as u are collecting lots of cave bulbs/clay on the way...probably a more viable way of obtaining metal in the long run anyhow.

Finding a mine is not easy in these times, but looking in caves is the best way to find a cave, since most of the surface-mineholes are already taken.

but however, I used like 70 litres of RRE before I found a mine... So keep trying! :D

I searched over 20 hours (to no avail), so I'd give up unless you're:
a) Getting good LP from all the hunting along the way like I am.
b) Stealing stuff like large chests from land claims along the way, but only if you're traveling for several more hours so they don't track you down.
c) Collecting cavebulbs.
d) Looking for a nice place to build a village at.
e) Enjoying an unsettled life.
f) Insanely determined.
RIP

Sorry for the bump, but I'm having trouble as well, do we know when the next release of the grids are, or if there are any world resets planned?

Also, on world reset, are stats kept?

It is faster to look for abandoned mines

There are plenty of abandoned mines even around the central grids.

If you want to own and defend a mine, yes. If you just want some metal, then no - it's easy enough to trade for.
