how do i sacrifice items and how do i know if i got any numen points out of it????

There's a good wiki page that describes it better than I can:

You sacrifice an item by left clicking on it to pick it up in your inventory, and then right clicking on an altar.

You have to sacrifice the item on the left to get numen points, the other ones just allow you to have a chance at a new sacrifice item instead of forfeiting (Do not forfeit after you have some points as it costs HALF of the points you got so far)

Also cross your fingers that your ancestor doesn't start asking for really dumb rareish items next roll ....Battle Axe of the Twelfth Bay, I'm looking at you!
