Why can boar heal?

what the hell!!!! i laughed at him till he started healing....when do we get that ability?

It's actually not the boar that is healing itself, though. The deer have the special ability to heal themselves and animals in their vicinity, so there probably were some nearby. They won't heal you, though. ;)

So yeah, generally, if there are deer in an area, you're probably better off finishing them off before you attack anything else.

I assume this is something (or some form of this) will be incorporated into the hearth magic skill or something similar?

It's quite probable that animals have their own unique set of special abilities that are unattainable by normal players.
I do know that boars have a particularly nasty ability to pull combat advantage to favor them.
