How to install and run for a total windows noob?

Postby laclongquan » Mon Dec 06, 2010 7:52 am

Assume I know nothing about Linux. or Java. or Apache. Assume I am a basic Windows XP user.

I dont know about git, or linux, or java.

I know we can use java.com to check my PC's version of Java. To reduce headache I just intall the newest.

I install git preview v1731.

what next?

Please help because the logic seem just beyond me and similar other noobs.

OK. It was your talk about Linux and version control software that threw me.

Once you've got Java installed, just jam on the big red play button at the top of this page.

Bob's your uncle.

What he's trying to say is, you don't need to install a bunch of crazy stuff. Just have java installed from the web. If its not working, there's some kind of firewall or display resolution issue going on.

Running the 3rd party clients is a whole nother story. They are not user friendly but once you get it figured out its worth it. (and may fix the resolution issues if that was what it was)
