Prospecting in Caves?

It is said that most caves aren't big enough for you to need to step in beyond the entrance. It is also said that all caves are connected on one map similar to the outside world, so you don't have to bother checking a cave if it's close to another one (unless you want to find cavebulbs). You should probably give up on prospecting, advise your friends to never buy that skill, and just trade with a rich village. They apparently take in certain low quality junk.

If a mine is so deep into a cave that you can't detect it from the entrance, you don't want to find it. Walking that far through a cave every time you want to mine will be a huge pain and waste of time. You'll get more metal by picking cavebulbs for trade when walking to the mine than you will by mining.

you know being able to build a crossroad inside caves would make this much easier...

I agree with the crossroads, but the problem with that is caves have no claims on the inside so I don't see how you could do that.

With cave mines, if it's a long way, you can always build an auto-walk trail. That's what I did; it's maybe a 3 minute walk pulling a cart, but I can do it automatically so it's not so bad; just have to plan ahead and bring back a decent shipment of ore when I go mining.
