Fish.

It's really hard to fish without a boat, just saying. Oh yeah, build a chair too if you don't expect to get a waterflask anytime soon. Digging can be tiring.

This is his first time playing. Don't give him a bad experience.

Blueberries and Chants are alright. Taproots if you're in serious need of food.

Otherwise, just fish or hunt. Foxes aren't hard to kill, and if you run into Aurochsen and have a sling and a rock nearby, say hello to food for a month.

If you start farming, wheat + water will get you pretty much everything you need.

Just add some honey, or carrot, or <insert whatever here> and you'll get alot of nice stats :)

I can't believe nobody mentioned apples, mulberries, or hazelnuts.

Apples are for bustas, mulberries are for the homeless and hazelnuts are for high-tier classy folk only, like me.

If you are VERY close to dying of starvation, go fishing, first of all it doesn't cost you any stamina and so 1 hunger point can last you enough time to fish up at LEAST a fish. Of course you'll have to have a string (http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/String), fishing pole and a bone hook which can be hard to get without the skill hunting first to wrangle a bunny/chicken.'

If you think you still got a bit of energy left then get hunting skill and hunt for rabits in forests or look for grassland/moor/hearthland for lots of chickens. After you get some LP from roasting all that meat you should be able to buy fishing, then you'll never starve. Then you can finally have time to make that bunny slipper!
