Breeding and proximity

Postby Danno » Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:42 am

I've got 3 sheep (2 of which are male), 1 cow, and 1 bull in my fence. I figured I could just lump them all together and sort them out later after murdering their inferior offspring in cold blood for LP.
I was doing something else while my character was roasting meat when I heard a "baaaa". At first I thought someone might have killed one of my sheep or something, so I checked it out quickly to see... one of the male sheep mounted on the female sheep's rear, humping her. I was a second too slow to get the screenshot.

I always used to think the animals could have sex telepathically. Does this mean they have to actually make contact with each other to mate? Do they also need room for the offspring, or would those spawn outside of, say, an extremely small, cruel fence that has the mother and father trapped with zero leg room? Has anyone seen this before, or seen a cow and bull getting it on in a similar manner?

You should hear pigs sex, they really seem to get into it.
