harvest wheat?

I am trying to harvest what i think is wheat, just a random tile on an abandoned homestead.
The harvest option pops up, i click it move in as if to harvest then nothing happens?
Do i need a tool or something?

You've got farming? if you haven't, then get it and you should be able to.

It could alternatively be a crop that hasn't finished growing yet, and then you'd just have to wait.

I have farming and have harvested other crops,
i just don't seem to be able to get this one!
I didn't think the 'harvest' option would pop up if the crop wasn't ready?
Theres no claims about, i have tried it on 3 tiles and after pressing harvest i just move to the tile and stop.
No timer appears and nothing happens, is there any skill requirement or anything?
Will keep trying.....

Edit: just logged back in and it worked fine, i guess the crop wasn't ready....
