What do each of the attributes do?

Hey guys, im new to this game so please forgive my noobish question but can someone explain what the attributes do in the character sheet. I read the wiki but still dont entirely understand. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Attributes modify the abilities of your toon.
The outcome of many actions your toon performs in the game (be it an active one like crafting a receipt, or a passive one like spotting foraeagbles) are modified by them.

Basic rule of thumb: bigger numbers are better.
