starting out

Postby dakenho » Fri Dec 17, 2010 8:57 pm

so I am a new player starting out, was just looking for suggestions one what to do, currently I am just wandering around , built a fire, ate some apples, just doing little things to gain LP. I was just wondering what should I do,were should I start for making things to sell to build up money, I know I cant claim land for a bit, I don't appear to have spawned with any combat skills but dodge so I cant fight any creatures, just curious on what things new players can go do or should do rather to gain lots of lp

Get carpentry ASAP and start building a settlement. Way I'd start if I had to do it again, is get pottery first than wander around looking for a clay node (shallows or mudflats, you'll know cause you'll repeat the dig action rather than get 1 piece and not being able to dig again) and dig and make either teapots or platters and just drop em.

Do that a few times you should be able to get carpentry and lumberjacking and from there you just settle somewhere. I'd recommend somewhere near water (but not right on it, like a screen away or so) and get a fence and house up asap so boars don't eat you (you can ditch em in shallows to begin with).

EDIT : TL;DR best way to earn massive LP fast....is play the game ;)

TL? DR?

I tried to start settlement but It said I need to be part of a village to drop flags, I read some place that you need 4000 xp to get some skill that allows you claim land, so I have that guide on that, I already have a stone axe and wanted to get into lumber jacking and carpentry so I geuase I am off to a good start

You don't need to claim to start a settlement, it's definitely something to work towards though if you wanna go the solo route. It's one of the first things in a long long list of skills you want though, yeomanry it requires farming and hearth magic iirc.

What he is trying to say, is that you do not need to claim somewhere to build on it.
Just get the carpentry skill (only 200 LP, isn't too hard), click build > construction > log cabin.

Log cabins are small, but don't require many resources, and building one will get you lots of LP.

I recommend building one near water, and lots of trees.

was it quality 10?

if so, you've depleted the whole area within a 100? tile radius of clay unless there's a node somewhere near

if you get 11 or above you've found a clay node
