How does it matter when you die? Today? In hundred years? What will be left of you after millenia?

stay away from rivers 95% of the caves i find are away from rivers.
let us all take a moment remember and honor trisby, the true desident of Tris, who was last seen in all white walking into a river with her beloved sledgehammer in her hands. May she find honor and glory in the next life

rivers have nothing to do whatsoever with finding caves or not... :|

Just look at cliffs...

i just ment that you will find cave hunting a lot harder in a boat than just going into the woods and just looking at every cliff you find.

On my travels, I found 3 caves very close to rivers, but some players put land claims at those cave entrances... One of them even attempted to hide the cave entrance by placing a cellar stone there. Some people are just greedy like that. Sometimes I'd go an hour or so inland without seeing any caves, other times I'd find 3 pretty close to each other. Caves can also be covered by trees; one time I found a cave that was just barely visible behind a tree, so keep your eyes open. You'll just have to check all the hills that you see on the minimap and leave the rest to luck.

indeed walk through the forest look at cliffs you'll find one eventually and looks behind trees that cover cliffs thats a great way to find hidden ones, I generally find 85% of all cave entrances in a SG while mapping them...

While we're on the subject of caves, is it possible to build buildings inside (E.g cabins, log cabins, etc?) or even build a village inside a cave?

no, but i think jorb and loftar were talking about bringing that back(was possible in the earlier worlds i've heard.
It is possible to lift objects and then enter the cave with them though
