Grow tree

How long does it take for a tree to grow (not fully, but that you can atleast take items from it. In this case, leaves)? And does it matter if there are items and stumps close to it? Or do only other trees stop the growth?

Every object with a hitbox (every object you can't walk through) will stop the growth, including things like rats and toads.

Growth time depends on the terrain you plant them on. Trees grow fastest on their natural terrain. Firs on forest terrain grow faster than firs on grassland, for example.

I planted a mulberry tree on grassland. And by the way, it has to be 5 tiles away of the object to grow, right?

Not sure if 5 or 4, but to be completely sure just leave 5 tiles free around your tree. It can't hurt to put a personal claim there to prevent animals spawning next to your tree, in case you're on village claim. A fence prevents animals accidentally walking onto it.

So a fenced in tree in the center of a 9x9 plot on a personal claim will never get stunted from my experience.

Mulberry trees grow slow from my experience, so expect a few RL days before you can pick leaves or branches. Keep in mind that the quality will go up with every growth stage, until the second last I think. I also noticed that they regrow all their branches when they grow into the next stage, so don't be shy to pick them.

Okay, thanks! I think i'll have to find one more mulberry tree and pickup a mulberry to plant one more, because my log cabin is now in the trees way.
