What should I train in?

Postby VtheVigilante » Wed Dec 22, 2010 3:13 am

Hey guys,

I read the combat guide pretty well, and understand the general interface. However, I'm having a hard time deciding what I should put my training into and what will benefit me the most as a new player.

I'm currently training UAC (17) and Marksmanship (15), correspondingly. I also have access to Q90 slings. I'm looking to take down foxes (and boars eventually) for leather- And getting tackled by boars in the woods is getting kind of old. Anyway, I was hoping to get some input from more experienced players on what path to take, training wise. Thanks!

Since your stats are still rather low I would advice you to put some lp in marksmanship and get your hands on better sling. This will allow you to start hunting mouflons and aurochsen which are good source of lp. Then you may allocate your points as you wish.

Yeah, I'd get like 50 marksmanship, then work on unarmed so you can stop using traps.

push marksman for now, to at least 50, then raise unarmed to an equal level and continue raising them both

edit: beaten

Melee is believed by many to be under-powered and useless at the time compared to MM and UA.

melee's only real saving grace is the fact that it can be augmented with thane's rings. if you don't have access to high quality thanes, there is absolutely no point in learning melee (and even then, many would say don't bother)

When thanes can give +200 MC total, thats enough to be decent.

Dunno, it takes a lot of punches to take a guy out, while a sword can often get 1 hit KO. And the shield's 1.25x defence is pretty nice.
