How do I know what world I am in?

Postby SirPasko » Thu Dec 23, 2010 8:27 am

Answers will be gladly accepted. I have lead exploration attempts to find a mine or mountain to mine in. While I realize this would be a second question, what terrain support mines, and if you find a mine in a cave, do you have to build it like the ones outside?

There is only one world, but you probably mean where you are on the world map. Take a look here: http://havenmap.student.utwente.nl/

Mines mostly spawn on mountains, mudflats or in caves. They can sometimes also be found in the woods . Note that most mines in game have been taken by now, so you might want to try finding an abandoned but already built mine or join a town that has access to one.

Ah, Thank you. My friends and I recently started, and we really hope to find our own mine. I realize the mines have mostly been taken, however the style of living is slowly wearing on us, and the threat of people with metal is getting to us. lol. What parts of the world have not really been exploited yet, if there are any? I know the map has a lot of eastern blank spots, but all the spots we check out that are uncharted tend to be occupied.

Edit: Also, we have strived for a peaceful coexistence in a semiviolent game, with the threat of riverraiders, battering rams, and etc constantly in our presence, what could a tribe that does not wish to join a larger town seek to do other then turn to violence. Should we grow stronger by feeding off weaker or solo players? This constant wasting of time chasing mountains and claimed caves is wearisome on my team, and I really need some advice on how to guide them.

Also the release date on the bigger map, or newer zones would be appreciated. I'm afraid we are quite ignorant as to the notification system and update tendancies of the game.

My best advice for you is to go far far to the edges. You are more likely to find any leftover mines there and drama is less likely to occur at the edge.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

Use the time you explore to also hunt. That way you will get stronger and be able to defend yourself. Also try to trade for some armor or weapons with bigger cities. Once you have found a permanent spot brickwall it asap.

There probably won't be an extension of the map anytime soon. Most of the experienced players argue the map is too big already, although it might seem unfair to a new player that chances become even worse to get a mine on a smaller map. Lack of goods encourages trade after all and while we might need a better system of localized ressources to improve this further, a smaller map would be a start.

Brickwall your village and follow Avu's Security thread. That's the best you can do, I guess.
